Adventure with that capital ‘A’ (A for Australia) when seven women of some seniority get together in the bunk houses and digs normally frequented by the gap year student tourists, sparks may well fly. As indeed they do; it isn’t very far into this diary of daily happenings before falling out of bed or just plain falling out will provide topics for the author’s pen.

An interesting read, if you are fascinated by a novel version of reality TV. The size and format (and price, reasonable value at £6.99) suggests it will slip into the rucksack for an equivalent adventure and provide light relief after the stickier moment of failed logistics. Well done the ladies – I’m sure they all enjoyed the exercise, but whether you as reader will enjoy the résume depends on having a fondness for diaries written in school ma’am prose. A side effect of journeying with close relatives in such a fashion produces fascinating insights into ‘human relations’; rubbing shoulders day on day certainly becomes a sure recipe for character analysis.
