I was surprised after seeing a large photo of author Angela Marshall on the cover that this book is for men; surely the cover needs to be more appropriate to its target market? As Marshall states in the book, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

The book is written throughout as though speaking to a female, and I don’t think this style will appeal to male readers. The book doesn’t really get going until chapter 4, and up until then it is full of boring and not relevant anecdotal stories. Once I’d got to the meat of the book, i.e. discovering your own unique Wardrobe Personality, it then fizzled out, leaving me feeling disappointed. Even though I’d answered all the questions on behalf of my partner, I still didn’t really know how to help improve his dress sense.

The drawings are unappealing and old-fashioned, and I think that it is overpriced at £15.99. Being Truly You is a professional looking book with a glossy cover. No spelling mistakes and the layout is first class. Marshall has also written a book for women, and I would be interested to read it.

This book clearly would appeal to those who have used Marshall’s services as an appearance management consultant. It is evident that a lot of thought and care has been put into this book. I liked the quotes at the start of each chapter and the idea that we each have a Wardrobe Personality type is an interesting one.
