Books for children should inspire, and this tale certainly does that. It’s an unusual story about a grandmother who has a superior talent which she persuades a group of local children to learn... riding micro-scooters! This leads on to her being accepted, rather than shunned, by her neighbours.
I thought it would particularly appeal to boys aged betweeen five and ten, though it would need to be read to younger children.
The only thing about this book that I felt let it down is the illustrations. These are obviously also done by the author on a computer, and while some of the portraits of the children are nice, the cover is fairly uninspiring, and all the illustrations are poorly executed. This is a shame, as better illustrations would have captured the interest of younger readers (or listeners).
On the whole, however, this is an original and funny story that should find great appeal with children and parents alike.
